Watercolors and Children

I have decided that I am going to try to teach the kiddos how to use real materials. We are going to use good quality products and learn how to use them and how to take care of them. If they learn how to use and take care of things like this at an early age they will be able to do it on their own earlier. Have you ever tried to do a nice watercolor painting with kids watercolors? The colors just do not show up well. The good quality real water color paints give you a vibrant beautiful color and we are able to experiment with different variations of how much water we add to the paint.

We recently started a nature journal and I am teaching them how to dry brush paint which is super awesome and pretty simple. It will take a little bit for them to catch on and be able to do the painting on their own but they are doing an amazing job! Since they love art so so much, this has been great for me to do lessons on nature while they paint.
We learned about ladybugs today while they painted. Just a simple lesson that lets them know that a ladybug is an insect, how many legs, food, and life cycle.

We bought a set of beginners water colors and pad and they have been working marvelously for us. They are good quality and they didn't break the bank. The paper holds up well to a 3 year old too! :)
